In this work is presented an approach to the theoretical solar radiation in El Oro, Loja and Zamora Chinchipe provinces (Ecuador), from the Hottel’s Model, considering the daylight cloud amount and using atmospheric transmittance, solar zenith angle, altitude, and climate type. Resulting Global Solar Radiation amounts using altitudes of the Digital Terrain Model of the study area are shown for annual totals and for the months of January and August. Conclusions and recommendations are given.
This work aims at obtaining a method to homogenize series of wind speed, in the meteorological stations of the National Meteorological and Hidrological Institute (INAMHI) in the Loja Province, Ecuador Republic. Homogenization tests applied include non-parametric and the Alexandersson test (SNHT). Multiple Regression Analysis is used to determine the problematic values from the absolute values of the Student residuals bigger than 3 and to calculate the their replacements. Results are shown for the January series.
Different theoretical models exist for obtaining an initial knowledge about the solar radiation values on a horizontal surface in a certain place. The present work is focused in obtaining the solar radiation values on a horizontal surface using Hottel model.
An approach is presented to the solar radiation possible to obtain in the provinces El Oro, Loja and Zamora Chinchipe, South Region of Ecuador (RSE) using images of the Geostationary Satellite GOES-East, and the data of global radiation obtained in a net of five automatic stations located in the RSE from which a theoretical model was obtained, by means of multiple regression analysis among the bands RGB (Red, Green, Blue) of the Visible and Infrared images of the GOES and the instantaneous data of global radiation in the stations.
One of the objectives of the present work is the determination of areas in which it is possible the use of the Eolic energy. In the study area information is not enough, reason why it is necessary to use other sources of data. Digital Elevation Models (DEM) allow us to know areas where the winds can flow due to orographic factors. A DEM for the area of the project was processed and obtained, with nodes every 0,001◦ . Data of reanalysis of different elements performed by NASA were used.
