Identification of Broad-Spectrum Dengue/Zika Virus Replication Inhibitors by Functionalization of Quinoline and 2,6-Diaminopurine Scaffolds

Social and demographic changes across the world over the past 50 years have resulted in significant outbreaks of arboviruses such as dengue virus (DENV) and Zika virus (ZIKV). Despite the increased threat of infection, no approved drugs or fully protective vaccines are available to counteract the spread of DENV and ZIKV. The development of "broad-spectrum" antivirals (BSAs) that target common components of multiple viruses can be a more effective strategy to limit the rapid emergence of viral pathogens than the classic "one-bug/one-drug" approach.

Effect of concentration of methionine in maturation and culture medium on cleavage rate of oocytes from alpaca (Lama pacos)

Maturation time of oocytes from alpacas is around 38 to 40 h (Huanca et al. 2009) that would induce an increase in reactive oxygen species during in vitro maturation and IVF and cause cytotoxic damage to gametes. The objective of this study was to determine the optimal concentration of methionine during in vitro maturation on cleavage rate of alpacas oocytes following IVF.

Impact of fixed charges on the viability of self-consumption photovoltaics Author links open overlay panel

Due to its zero-marginal-cost, the high penetration of renewable energy sources in the electricity markets threatens incumbents’ business models who are gradually shifting towards fixed power charges instead of the traditional energy charges. The purpose of this study is to assess the impacts of these fixed power charges on the economics of PV systems under self-consumption schemes. Using real demand and generation data, simulations include detailed computation of annual billing savings, payback-time, self-consumption and self-sufficiency of a dwelling coupled with PV-battery system.

Incentivo a la generación distribuida en el Ecuador. Ingenius.

Reducing solar infrastructure costs is one of the main reasons for its global growth. In Ecuador adjustments to the legal framework have to be made to encourage the installation of small photovoltaic solar structures for electricity customers connected to low voltage distribution networks for their personal consumption, and any surplus energy be injected into the grid.
